LEGACY SOCIETY
The Legacy Society of Locust Grove Village was created to recognize and honor
individuals who have included a gift to the Village in their estate plan. Deferred gifts
ensure that future funding will be available to fund the growing needs and priorities of
Locust Grove Village.
Membership in the Legacy Society is available to all supporters who are making
planned gifts to Locust Grove Village of any dollar amount through their estate plan.
Current gifts to the Locust Grove Village endowment fund require a minimum
contribution of $5,000 for membership. Qualifying estate gifts include bequests,
trusts, life insurance, retirement plans, charitable gift annuities and other life income
arrangements.
By joining the Legacy Society donors affirm the vision of Locust Grove Village to provide high quality health care and retirement living to the citizens of Rush County and the central plains.
Charitable Estate Gift Benefits the Village
Locust Grove Village was the recent beneficiary of a generous charitable estate gift. Former Bazine resident, Gerry Yeager, passed away last March in Napa, California, at the age of 79. He included a gift in his estate plan through an IRA account, to benefit Locust Grove Village.
According to Gerry’s nephew, Myron Filbert, Gerry’s mother Lydia Yeager lived at Locust Grove Village in the last days of her life. Charlotte Rathke, LGV Administrator, was touched by the generosity. “How thoughtful of Mr. Yeager to remember us in this way,” she said. “His gift will have a very positive impact on our residents.”
Gerry and his wife, Mary, began their careers in Western Kansas before moving to Denver, Colorado, and then on to San Francisco, California. Gerry worked in real estate before he and Mary retired to Napa, California.
In 2012, Locust Grove Village established the Legacy Society to recognize and honor donors who are including charitable gifts in their estate plans to benefit the Village.
